Immigration Services Our San Diego Immigration Lawyer Offers

At Bueno Law, we can help with a variety of immigration-related issues, including:

  • Asylum:

Asylum is our main focus! If you fear that you will be harmed in your home country because of your race, religion, ethnicity, or participation in a social group, we can help you claim your place in the U.S. so you have the right to work, live, and not be deported. Bueno Law is also a firm advocate for LGBTQ+ immigrants, and we have won all of our LGBTQ+ asylum cases, most of which were outside the one-year deadline.
  • VAWA petitions:

If you are experiencing abuse or cruelty in your marriage with a citizen or green card holder, but struggle to speak up because you are afraid of being deported, a VAWA petition can help you achieve the means to live your life in the U.S. independently.
  • U-visas:

If you are an undocumented person and the victim of a crime and filed a police report, obtaining a U-visa can give you the documentation you need without fear of having removal proceedings opened against you.
  • T-visas:

If you have done work involuntarily or by force at home, at work, or while crossing the border, by not paying you or making you work against your will, but you are afraid to speak up for fear of deportation,  a T-visa can help you get the justice you need and the freedom to work.
  • SIJS (Special Immigrant Juvenile Status):

If you are under 21 and have suffered abuse, neglect, or abandonment by a parent, our San Diego immigration lawyer can help you obtain this special visa that allows you to remain in the country permanently. We have done more SIJS cases (juvenile visa) in California than any other law firm, and won 100% of them! The juvenile visa is a pathway to permanent residency in the U.S.
  • Green cards:

Green cards give you lawful permanent residence, including the right to work legally, documentation, access to state-sponsored health benefits, and the ability to sponsor other family members who hope to come to the U.S. We can help work with you on your application so you don’t make any errors that might jeopardize your chances.
  • Family petitions:

If you want to petition to have your family member join you in the U.S., we can help you make the right moves so you have a strong chance at helping your loved ones on the journey to a new life.
  • Deportation defense:

If you have removal proceedings opened against you, we can help you understand your options, prepare your case, and advocate for you in court. We understand how important it is that you remain in the U.S., so we will fight fiercely for you – we don’t just defend cases, we defend lives, and we will do whatever it takes to keep you here!
  • Citizenship:

If you want to become a naturalized citizen of the U.S., we can help you through the process and help you get to know your options. When you are a naturalized citizen, you have the same rights as every other American, including the right to make your home and settle your family in the country you love!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for asylum even if I entered the U.S. unlawfully?

Yes (currently – immigration laws are always changing, so call our attorneys for the most up to date information). As long as you are able to demonstrate that there is a credible threat to your safety should you return to your country of origin, you can be eligible for asylum whether you arrived in the U.S. legally or not.

Do I need an immigrant or a nonimmigrant visa?

There are many types of visas available, so it’s difficult to know where to start. However, you can begin the process of narrowing down which one is right for you depending on whether you want to stay in the U.S. permanently or temporarily. If you want to stay permanently and pursue naturalized citizenship, one of the immigrant visas is right for you. If you are only visiting or staying on a temporary basis, you want a nonimmigrant visa.

If I have a green card, can I help my family immigrate to the U.S.?

Yes! If you have a green card, you can sponsor certain family members who want to come to the U.S. ged circumstances affecting your eligibility. We love asylum cases and would love to help you with yours!
